12 Weeks

As the first trimester is coming to a close, I continue to be amazed at the miracle that is growing inside of me. Throughout this process, I can't help but be in awe over our wonderful Creator. (And some confusion about how anyone can believe in evolution.)
My doctors appointment was last Tuesday. The sound of the heartbeat still floods my ears. Usually for about a week after I hear the heartbeat everything is great and I'm not worried about the well-being of our child. But the next three weeks until the next appointment is terrifying! I almost bought a fetal doppler heart monitor to listen to the heartbeat whenever I wanted, but chose against it due to the fact that if there was a time when Baby Same was "hiding" and I couldn't find the heartbeat, I would unnecessarily freak out!
We won't find out the sex until sometime in early June. (bummer)
What I'm Experiencing This Week:
  • Nausea (still, sometimes pretty bad)
  • Headaches
  • A little bit of excitement surrounding my growing tummy
  • And all the other stuff mentioned previously, things haven't changed much.

***FUN FACTS ABOUT BABY THIS WEEK***
  • Baby weighs 1/2 an ounce and is about 2.5 inches, the size of a nice lime.
  • Baby’s digestive system in practicing contraction movements so he/she can eventually eat.
  • Baby’s bone marrow is making white blood cells to fight off future infections.
  • Baby’s intestines have almost completed their journey from where they have been growing in the umbilical cord to their permanent place in baby’s abdomen.

11 weeks (part two)

I just went to doctor and could not be happier! I have been so nervous about this appointment; if we would hear the heartbeat, if everything was going ok..... Well we did hear the heartbeat going strong at about 150 beats/min! I was so excited, grinning from ear to ear! I bet the people who saw me walking out of the hospital thought that I was crazy! Just wanted to give a little update. As noted in earlier posts, I've not been feeling that great and therefore have not eaten much lately. The Doc did say that I had to gain some weight by next time. I've never been told that before! I think I can manage! YAY!!!!!!!

11 Weeks

And the first trimester is almost over!!!! I'm getting very excited about my next Dr. appointment, which is next Tuesday. If everything looks good with the baby, this is when I'll be opening this blog up for others to read. It has been so hard for me not to announce this baby news to the world already. Although, if you've been around me at all the last three months, you probably already know. Even before we were pregnant Isaiah and I already had a boy named picked out. A girl...we have no idea! I mean, we have a few names that we're toying with, but I just haven't had the "that's it!" feeling yet.

What I'm Experiencing This Week:

  • Headache (currently)
  • Bloating
  • Still love frozen things
  • Starting to be able to eat a little more
  • Heartburn
  • Excitement about hearing the heartbeat next week!

10 Weeks

I"m a little behind so I'm just gonna do a little catching up. Sadly, Isaiah and I were briefly pregnant in January. We miscarried very early in the pregnancy but it was still very hard for us. The doctor said that everything looked fine and that we could start trying to conceive again when we were ready. In the brief time that we were pregnant, Isaiah and learned so much about ourselves and the love of our Father. I had never really been able to fathom how much Christ loves me until I loved my unborn child.
One month after our loss, I got bronchitis. I felt awful and started taking cold medicine. Even though, I was almost positive that there was no way we were pregnant again I still wanted to make sure before I pumped myself full of cold meds. Took the test and...Pregnant. What a surprise!
I didn't really have any symptoms (that I want to share) until about 7 weeks. Isaiah and I went to Las Vegas for a little get-a-way in March and that's where the first symptoms appeared. The short version is that I ate mashed potatoes all week. Food was not my friend.
At ten weeks I am feeling ok but eating is still a chore. We are anxiously awaiting our next appointment (2 weeks from now) where we will hear the heartbeat again. At this time, we will share with the world our big news. (For now, I am not telling anyone about his blog.)

What I'm experiencing this week:

  • Peeing all the time!
  • Aversion to food, unless it is white (Hawaiian Bread, crackers, chicken noodle soup)
  • Love for Dole Real Fruit pop-sickles
  • Love for anything frozen for that matter
  • Very vivid dreams
  • Feeling REALLY bloated          Baby Same at 8 weeks

New Blog

I'm starting a new blog to go along with a new chapter in our lives. Many of you still may not know but, Isaiah and I are pregnant!!!! We are SO excited to start this new chapter and anxiously awaiting the arrival of our little one. Things are happening so fast and I wanted to document how are lives are changing. I am not really writing for an audience (though, I'd love for you to share in our joy) but for memories sake. I want to look back in a month, a week, or a year from now and think, "Oh yeah, that sucked." Or, "Wow, I wish I could go back to that moment." So, the plan is to write a blog once a week with a picture of my expanding belly, along with what I've experienced that week. Here's to happy blogging!
