17 Weeks

One more day of class and then off to the lake for the long weekend! I am so ready! I am looking forward to having time to clean my house and work on the upstairs, getting ready for Baby Same. I have been feeling her (him) move a lot lately. I love it every single time! It makes me feel so much better about everything. I know that I'm past the most dangerous part but I still sometimes worry how things are going in there. I'm not even half way there and am already so ready to hold our sweet baby. the next 23ish weeks are going to drag by! Short post this week. Maybe I'll have some more to say next week!

Here's What Been Going on:

  • I am STARVING all the time! The morning sickness has definitely gone away but the constant hunger is here!
  • I've been feeling the baby move a lot.
  • I have much more energy.
  • I am having some trouble sleeping.
**FACT ABOUT BABY THIS WEEK**
Baby, fetus at 17 weeks - BabyCenter
  • Baby’s skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker.
  • She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.
  • Baby is now covered with a downy layer of lanugo, which swirls in fingerprint-like formation over her whole body.
  • Baby’s skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it.

16 Weeks

Well there's no hiding it anymore...I look pregnant folks. I was waiting for this day to come although I'm a little nervous what is going to happen over the next 24ish weeks. One night after dinner I looked down at my belly and was a little concerned about how tight and large it was. I told Isaiah that I felt like an engorged tick and he comforted me by saying, "Just wait, Baby." I think that same night I was getting ready for bed looking at myself in the mirror. I went back into the living room glowing with excitement about the fact that I'm growing a person! (In fact, I might be growing a penis. How weird is that?!!!!!)

16 more days until we find out what we're having!!!! A friend of mine makes amazing cakes and gave us the idea of a gender revealing party. We will have a get-together on Thursday, June 9 (Consider this your formal invitation. If you are reading this and I know you and you would like to come over that night...COME ON!!). Kathryn will make a cake that is either dyed blue or pink in the middle. At first, Isaiah and I were not even going to know what the baby was until then, but I have to know. Everyone will find out the sex when we cut the cake! Isn't that fun!? I'm excited!

So Here's What's Been Going On....

Our little avacado

  • Morning sickness is gone (Angels singing in the background)
  • I love fruit and vegetable. Even salad which is so NOT me!
  • My hair finally stopped falling out so much. (I know you probably don't care about that but it is something that I was told would happen. When it wasn't happening, I was freaking out that something was wrong. Logical....No, but who said pregnant women are logical?)
  • My bed has turned into a sea of pillows. Two at my head, one supporting my back, one in between my knees...and Isaiah has to squeeze in there somehow too.
  • I THINK I have been feeling the baby moving! It's usually at night when I'm sitting on the couch relaxing. I know what gas feels like people and it's not that!

15 Weeks

So glad this week is finally over! This week I started my last class of graduate school. It's every day from 1-4 and it sucks! Even though it's my last official class of school, I won't graduate til next may because of my internship (which I won't be able to start til January.)
15 Weeks

This week was a very interesting week on the fashion front. My normal clothes just don't quite fit the same anymore. This was most obvious when trying on pre-pregnancy bathing suits. Now I'm not the most modest girl in the world but my pre-pregnancy bathing suits would not even be appropriate at the Playboy mansion. Things, they are a changin. Oh, I have a Dr. appointment on Monday! Not to find out the sex yet but I'm still really excited!

*Facts About Baby This Week*
  • In the next few weeks,  baby will double his weight and add inches to his length.
  • His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head.
  • His heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as he continues to develop.
  • The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren’t recognizable yet.
  • He’s even started growing toenails!

14 Weeks

Hello second trimester! So far, it's not any different than the first. Still have all the same stuff going on. I have been able to eat a little better but I'm still losing weight. How does that work? The one time in my life when I want to be gaining weight...I lose it. Is it just me or is "lose" a funny word? This week has been nice. I had a week long break from school before starting May term. I have one more class to take in May and then I'm done with classes for grad school. I forgot if I mentioned this last time but I found out a couple of weeks ago that I will have to take the fall semester off and do my internship in the spring. Apparently the state department doesn't like when you do split up internship. Come on! Oh well, having this baby when we have it is all part of God's perfect plan for our lives. I am so excited about starting this new chapter in our lives. We've already started converting the office into the nursery. Last weekend we moved all the furniture out and we even ordered the crib! All so very exciting. So it's about that time when I start to freak out again. My next appointment isn't until the 16th but I really wish it was closer. I know technically I'm out of the most dangerous phase but I still worry about my little one in there.

13 Weeks

What. A. Week!!!! Tornadoes rip through the south and Karlie turns our bedroom into a bio-hazard zone. Karlie had the stomach virus so we gave her some pepto....well she tried to wake me up at 2am to go outside but I didn't wake up. : ( Bad news for our carpet. Guess we are getting new carpet in our bedroom. Getting woken up at 2am to nastiness is something that we will have to be getting used to. I guess having a dog is a good first step for having a baby.

This week has been pretty rough on many front. I've had a million projects due and feeling yucky on top of things. Seems like if I'm not constantly eating something, even just a bite of something, I feel the urge to run to sink. I'm really hoping that I'll be over this in the next couple of weeks.

Things I've been experiencing this week:

    13 week pic
  • Heartburn
  • Nausea
  • A bump that's becoming a little more visible (I'll post a picture soon. Isaiah has the camera.)
  • Crying at inappropriate times.
  • Hungry but can't find anything that sounds good.

Fun facts about baby this week
  • Baby now has fingerprints.
  • Baby is three inches long, about the size of a yummy peach
  • Baby is starting to get hiccups which exercises her diaphragm.
  • If baby is a “she”, she already has all of her eggs in place for when she is ready to be a mommy.
  • Moving, moving, moving! Although still to small to feel, baby is moving like crazy.
